Rosa Norte is the northern section of Praia do Rosa, in Imbituba, Santa Catarina, Brazil—a beautiful, laid-back surf destination known for its scenic bay, consistent waves, and beach town vibe.

Surf conditions

Type of break: Mostly a beach break
Wave quality: Can be fun and punchy, with good shape when sandbars line up
Best swell: Picks up south and southeast swells
Wind: Usually best with offshore winds from the west/northwest
Wave size: Works from small, mellow surf to solid shoulder- to overhead-size days when conditions are right

What it’s like

More sheltered and often a bit mellower than some of the more exposed nearby spots
Can offer longer, cleaner walls at times, especially when the sand banks are well formed
Popular with intermediate surfers, but good days can attract more experienced surfers too

Environment

Set in a stunning bay area with green hills, dunes, and Atlantic Forest surroundings
The area is known for a relaxed beach culture, with cafes, hostels, and surf schools nearby
Seasonal whale watching can be a bonus in the region

Best time to surf

Generally the most consistent surf is during the South Atlantic swell season, often autumn to winter in Brazil
Summer can still be surfable, but conditions are often smaller and more variable
