Molhes is a well-known surf spot in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, located near the mouth of the Mampituba River at the border area between Torres (RS) and Passo de Torres (SC). It’s a classic jetty/sandbar wave spot, famous in southern Brazil for its consistent surf and strong local surf culture.

Spot description

Wave type: Mostly a beachbreak with jetties/rock groynes influence, which helps shape the waves and create more defined peaks.
Best for: Intermediate to advanced surfers, though it can be surfed by beginners when small and clean.
Direction: It usually works well with south and southeast swells, which are common in the region.
Wind: Best with northeast winds offshore; northwest/westerly winds can damage the wave.
Bottom: Mostly sand, but the jetties mean you need to be aware of current and rock hazards near the structures.

Wave quality

On the right conditions, Molhes can produce fast, powerful, hollow sections and very good rippable walls.
It can be a high-quality point-like wave at times because the jetties help organize the swell.
