Pyramids

Pyramids (Perth South, WA) is a well-known left-hand reef break south of Perth, in Western Australia. It’s named for the pyramid-like rock formations offshore and is considered a serious, powerful wave rather than a beginner-friendly spot.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Heavy reef break, mostly lefts
• Best swell: Works best on solid southwest groundswell
• Wind: Usually prefers light offshore easterlies
• Skill level: Advanced to expert due to the shallow reef and power of the waves
• Hazards: Sharp reef, strong hold-downs, and limited margin for error

Vibe

Pyramids is usually a remote, exposed, and uncrowded setup compared with Perth’s more accessible beaches. When it turns on, it can produce long, hollow, fast-running waves with serious consequence if you wipe out.
