Copeys left

Copeys Left is a well-known left-hand reef break in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, north of the main Margaret River surf zone. It’s a powerful, performance-oriented wave that tends to suit experienced surfers rather than beginners.

Wave characteristics - Usually produces a strong, wedging left that can offer long, workable walls when the swell and wind line up. - Can get barrel sections on larger, cleaner swells. - The wave has a shallow reef base, so timing and positioning are important. - Quality depends heavily on swell direction, swell size, and offshore winds.

Conditions - Works best with clean offshore winds and a solid Southern Ocean swell. - Like many Margaret River spots, it can be highly sensitive to swell angle and tide. - Can be dangerous when large due to rocky/reef takeoff zones and strong surge.

Crowd and vibe - Often surfed by locals and experienced visitors. - Because it’s a quality left and not easy, it can be competitive and crowded when it’s on.
