What it’s like

Koonya Reef is the kind of spot that can turn on with quality waves when the wind and swell align, but it’s not very forgiving. Expect a demanding takeoff, shallow sections, and a need to know the spot before paddling out. Because it’s on a reef, the wave can be punchy and fast, and wipeouts can be costly.
