North Haven, South Australia (Yorke Peninsula area) is a sheltered coastal surf spot near the mouth of the Port River, but it’s not one of the main Yorke Peninsula wave destinations. It’s generally better known as a harbor/marina and boating area than a consistent surf break.
Surf conditions
- Wave quality: Usually small and inconsistent
- Best swell: Needs a solid swell to show anything worthwhile
- Wind: Can be highly wind-sensitive; offshore winds help, onshore winds quickly ruin it
- Bottom: Typically sand-based, so peaks can shift around
What to expect
- More of a mild, local wave than a powerful surf destination
- Can offer fun, soft waves for beginners when conditions line up
- Not usually a place for long, reliable rides
- Often overshadowed by stronger Yorke Peninsula spots
Best for
- Beginners or surfers looking for a mellow session
- Foil boards, SUPs, or longboards on smaller days
- Quick checks if you’re nearby

If you’re after more consistent surf, the stronger options are generally farther along the peninsula, especially: - West Coast / Spencer Gulf-facing breaks - Southern Yorke Peninsula reef and beach breaks - Spots around Innes National Park and the exposed coastline
