Goolwa

Goolwa is a river-mouth surf break on the South Australian coast near the mouth of the Murray River, on the Fleurieu Peninsula side of Gulf St Vincent—not on the Yorke Peninsula. It’s known for its exposed, sand-bottom beachbreak and can produce punchy waves when a good groundswell wraps in.

What it’s like

Goolwa can offer fast, hollow peaks with decent shape, especially after a run of swell and favorable winds. Because it’s a sand-bottom break, the setup changes often, so the best banks can shift seasonally or even after storms. It’s generally better for intermediate to experienced surfers, especially when conditions get powerful.
