Gates

Gates is a surf spot on the South Australian east coast that’s generally known as a remote, exposed reef/point-style setup rather than an easy all-rounder. It tends to pick up plenty of Southern Ocean swell, so when it’s working it can offer powerful, long-period waves with a clean face and a more serious feel than a beginner-friendly beach break.

Because it’s exposed, it can also get bumpy or overly powerful quickly if the wind or swell is wrong.
