Meroo Headland Wedge

Meroo Headland Wedge is a northern South Coast NSW surf break tucked along a scenic stretch near Meroo National Park / Lake Conjola area. As the name suggests, it’s a wedge-style wave that forms when swell wraps into the headland and reflects off the coastline, creating a faster, more powerful takeoff than a typical beach break.

What it’s like

• Wave type: A wedgey, semi-sheltered reef/point-style setup depending on sand and swell angle
• Best on: Solid south to southeast swell with offshore or light westerly winds
• Break character: Can produce short, punchy walls with a steep takeoff, sometimes hollow when conditions line up
• Consistency: Highly swell-dependent and can be fickle

Conditions

• Works best when the swell is angled enough to wrap around the headland
• Tends to favor mid to larger swells
• Wind protection can make it more surfable than open beaches on messy days
• Tide can be important: too much water may soften it, while low tide may make it more intense and shallow
