Needle dicks

Needle Dicks is a northern NSW reef/breakwall-style surf spot known for being powerful, fickle, and highly tide-dependent. When it’s on, it can produce fast, hollow, quality waves with a fairly defined takeoff and a sectiony, punchy shape. It’s generally a spot that rewards local knowledge, as wave shape can change a lot with swell direction, tide, sand movement, and wind.

Typical characteristics

• Best with a clean, moderate swell rather than huge surf
• Handles offshore winds well
• Often better on a mid tide, though this can vary
• Can be fast and technical, not usually ideal for beginners
• May hold crowds if conditions line up, especially when nearby spots are poor
