Crabbes Creek

Crabbes Creek is a quiet North Coast/New South Wales surf location rather than a major Newcastle city break. It’s best thought of as a small, beach-and-creek mouth style surf spot with a more local, less crowded feel than the better-known breaks around Newcastle and the Central Coast.

What it’s like

• Wave type: Usually a beachbreak influenced by the creek mouth, so the sandbanks can shift and the surf can change a lot after swells, tides, and rain.
• Best conditions: Often works best with a clean swell and light winds, especially when sandbanks are lined up.
