Malua Bay

Malua Bay (Far South Coast, NSW) is a scenic south-coast beach break about 15 minutes south of Batemans Bay. It’s a relaxed coastal town surf spot that can produce fun waves when the right swell lines up, but it’s generally more of a beachbreak than a consistently heavy or highly technical break.

Malua Bay is usually a forgiving, user-friendly surf spot compared with the more exposed or reefy breaks along the NSW coast. On small to medium swells, it can be a good place for cruisy rides and practice. When the swell gets bigger, it can become more powerful and punchy, with stronger currents and a more challenging paddle-out.

• Smaller days are often best for learners; bigger east coast lows can make it quite serious
