Terrigal Haven is a sheltered surf and swim spot on the Central Coast of New South Wales, near the town of Terrigal. It sits on the protected side of the Terrigal headland, so it’s generally a much gentler option than the more exposed beach breaks nearby.

What it’s like

  • Wave type: small, usually soft and mellow
  • Best for: beginners, longboarders, learners, and casual surf sessions
  • Conditions: works best on smaller swells and with favorable wind; the headland helps block a lot of swell and wind
  • Crowds: can be busy, especially in good weather and during holidays

Bottom line

Terrigal Haven is more of a safe, sheltered practice wave than a powerful surf break. It’s ideal if you want relaxed surf conditions or are learning to stand up and cruise, but it won’t usually provide the punch or quality of a more exposed point break or reef break.
