West Punt, Aruba is one of the island’s more exposed surf zones, sitting on Aruba’s western tip where the Atlantic/Caribbean swell energy can wrap around the coast. It’s not a typical mellow beach break—conditions are usually more reef- and point-influenced, with waves that can be fast, hollow, and more powerful when the swell lines up.

What it’s like

Wave type: Predominantly reef break with some sections that can behave like a point/outer ledge setup depending on swell direction.
Best conditions: Clean groundswell, moderate to larger surf, and offshore or light cross-shore winds.
Wave quality: Can be very good on the right swell, with longer walls and occasional barrels on stronger days.
Skill level: Generally better suited to intermediate to advanced surfers, especially if the reef is shallow.

Hazards / considerations

Sharp reef: Booties are often a good idea.
Current and exposure: The west tip can get strong currents and shifting conditions.
Entry/exit: Can be trickier than beach breaks, so local knowledge helps a lot.
Crowds: Usually not as crowded as famous mainland breaks, but Aruba’s surf is relatively limited overall, so lineups can still have a local crew.
