Miramar (North), Argentina — surf spot description

Miramar is a beachbreak on Argentina’s Atlantic coast, in Buenos Aires Province. The north side of the spot is generally a less crowded section of the main Miramar beach zone, with open exposure to swell coming in from the southeast and east.

What it’s like

• Type: Sandy beachbreak
• Wave shape: Can range from soft, rolling peaks to steeper, punchier sections depending on swell and sandbars
• Consistency: Better with decent swell; conditions can change quickly because of shifting sand
• Best on: Often works best with east/southeast swell and light westerly/offshore winds
• Crowds: Usually less intense than more famous Argentine surf towns, but can still get busy on good days

Conditions

• Beginner-friendly: On smaller days, yes — but the moving sandbars and rips mean it’s still worth caution
• Intermediate-friendly: Often a good fit when the beach is producing clean peaks
• Hazards: Strong currents, changing bars, shorebreak on bigger swells, and cold water in the colder months

Atmosphere

Miramar has a relaxed Argentine beach-town feel, with long stretches of sand and a local surf scene that tends to be more low-key than places like Mar del Plata. The north end can feel a bit quieter and more open.

• Season: Surf is possible year-round, but conditions are often more reliable in the autumn and winter months for south Atlantic swell
• Wetsuit: A wetsuit is usually needed outside of the warmest summer periods
