Palmetto Point

Palmetto Point, Antigua is a lesser-known surf spot on the island’s northwest coast, exposed to north and northeast swells that arrive during the main Caribbean swell season. It’s not as consistent as the island’s more famous breaks, but when conditions line up, it can offer fun reef/point-style waves in a scenic, relatively quiet setting.

• Wind: Works best with light offshore or cross-offshore winds, typically from the south/southeast
• Skill level: Usually better for intermediate to advanced surfers, depending on size and reef exposure
• Board: A shortboard or fish for smaller days; more volume helps if it’s weak or windy

Conditions and quality

Palmetto Point can produce clean, peeling waves on the right swell, but it’s highly tide- and swell-dependent. Because it’s reef-oriented, the wave shape can be crisp and fast, and the spot may hold shape better than a sandy beach break when the swell is solid.
